Gene Research
Each individual is affected by depression in different ways and their treatment plans have to be different. This is because depression is essentially a lack of certain chemicals in the brain that affect ones mood, meaning that each persons chemical balance is different and requires different medication. One thing that scientists are doing currently is extensive research on how genes play a role in depression and how one type of chemical in the brain affects another part. The point to gene research is to get a better understanding of how the chemicals and medicine interact and how to create more individualized and more effective medication.
The button at left leads to a website where you can help fund gene research. Donating only a few dollars can help many people with better and more individualized medication. To donate, go to the website, click the donate button, and then in the "Special Instructions" section, specify that you would like to donate to gene research for antidepressants.
